The Official Blog for Jen Nipps

Quirky? Me? Maybe.

OK, more than just “maybe.”

Karen over at WRITE NOW tagged me with the quirkiness meme.  So here we go:

The rules;
1. Link to the person who tagged me.
2. Mention rules of tag.
3. Talk about six unspectacular personal quirks.
4. Tag six other bloggers.

Let me see if I can come up with some writing- or reading-related quirks.

1. I hate bending page corners down, so I use paperclips as bookmarks if I can’t find a real bookmark.

2. I’m on a mission to find good rock music (#1 hits or not) from the late 80s/early 90s to serve as a soundtrack for Navajo Rose.

3.  I like to listen to Irish music when I’m working on the Maguire series, whether it’s writing something new or editing.

4.  If I end a writing session at the end of a chapter/section, I’ll start the next one before I quit so I won’t be stuck thinking “What was I doing here?”

5.  I have to write poems long-hand and then put them on the computer, but I have a very hard time doing the same with nonfiction or fiction.

6.  I obsessively check e-mail to see if there’s been any response from any of the submissions or information requests I have out whether I sent them via ground mail or e-mail.

Those may or may not be quirks.  You be the judge.

Now, who to tag?  Eenie-meenie-miney-mo….

1. Plaidearthworm

2. Nita

3. Rinda

4. Dorothy

5. Jenn

6. Sandy

Don’t you hate the obssive checks? I do them myself. :)

  2. relliott4 says:

Hm.. think I meant obsessive. ;)

  3. Karen-bob says:

That’s OK relliot4…I first read that as “obsessive chicks” LOL. I’m with you on number four, Jen. But I do it for a different reason. It’s much easier to start the next day if I’ve already started on a paragraph or two. Sometimes I even leave off mid-sentence. I find it a great motivator to get right back to it the next day. ~Karen

  4. Jen says:

Rinda, Actually…Yeah, I do! It’s not like me checking so much is going to make something good come through any faster. lol

Karen, I’ve tried leaving off in mid-sentence. I can’t do it. That just succeeds in making me confused. (And sometimes that all-too-easy to do!)

  5. Aiiiee! I’ve been tagged! Now I have to narrow my quirks down to a handful. Hmmmm…..and I’m the same way about bending book pages and obsessing over e-mail!

  6. [...] Quirks and Naughty Billy Idol I was tagged by Jen Nipps a little while back and I well, forgot about it.  So… to make up for it, I’ll try and [...]
